Mean snow

Delible and indelible marks

Until you have lived where snow falls and keeps on falling and
smothers every surface with arrogant ownership;
Until you have seen how snow imprisons all comings and goings and
renders secrets impossible;
Until you have seen ice crystals with their six-fold symmetry settle
into a lock-jaw meanness that wrenches the daily quarry of leaf and litter
down into street tundra;
You cannot know how nasty snow can be.
