Ship of dreams

Lost, abandoned and set aside

About

It was late and the party almost over.

The little boat had been fashioned by the hands of several guests, each making small additions as the late-night conversation waned.

It sat as centrepiece in the table now, mizzen mast askew, becalmed by the lyrics of Nick Cave’s The Ship Song:

"Come sail your ships around me
And burn your bridges down
We make a little history baby
Every time you come around
Come loose your dogs upon me
And let your hair hang down
You are a little mystery to me
Every time you calling 'round
We talk about it all night long
We define our moral ground
But when I crawl into your arms
Everything comes tumbling down."
