Ship of dreams

Lost, abandoned and set aside

It was late and the party almost over.

The little boat had been fashioned by the hands of several guests, each making small additions as the late-night conversation waned.

It sat as centrepiece in the table now, mizzen mast askew, becalmed by the lyrics of Nick Cave’s The Ship Song:

"Come sail your ships around me
And burn your bridges down
We make a little history baby
Every time you come around

They decided it was too late for sailing, burning of bridges or making of any history, so they all went home.
