Distracted momentarily from the conference speaker, she looked down at her boot to find the ceiling in miniature had been deposited there.

She had previously received compliments about the shiny boots, mainly from men who seemed to like black leather, and had felt herself conspicuous.

So it was a surprise when the patent leather gifted her this. She sat transfixed, as one speaker gave way to the next and then to the lunch break, and held her boot just so and dared not move until the reflected ceiling passed slowly from the tip of her boot onto the floor and was absorbed into terrazzo oblivion.
